Live a sensory journey through the specialty coffees of Chapada Diamantina
Discover the secrets of Bahia’s Gourmet Coffee Route in an experience that unites nature, culture, and a lot of flavor
Famous for its stunning landscapes and spectacular trails, Chapada Diamantina holds another valuable treasure: some of the best specialty coffees in Brazil. With its mild climate, altitudes ranging between 900 and 1,300 meters, and soils rich in minerals, the region has become a perfect terroir for gourmet coffee production. Cold nights and sunny days create ideal conditions for the beans to develop complex flavors and unmatched aromas, winning international awards and the taste of the most demanding connoisseurs.

The organic and biodynamic cultivation practiced by local producers reveals a harmonious relationship with nature, where each stage of the process – from planting to the cup – is carefully planned to extract the best from the land. No wonder the coffees from Chapada Diamantina have been attracting attention around the world, turning the region into a new must-visit destination for coffee lovers.
And it is in this setting that the Gourmet Coffee Route is born. The tour reveals an immersive experience that invites you to discover the secrets behind these award-winning beans, with three different day trip options along the Coffee Route, departing from different cities in Chapada Diamantina.
AN EXPERIENCE FOR ALL THE SENSES
If you are in Mucugê, the first stop is at Fazenda Matos, located 54 kilometers from Mucugê, where visitors are welcomed by host Tadeane Matos. The guided tour, lasting 2 hours, includes a tour of the coffee plantations, detailed explanations about cultivation, harvesting and processing of the beans, as well as a visit to the roasting plant. It all ends with a tasting of the renowned Agrocafé Igaraçu, prepared in different ways to stimulate the palate. The farm also offers the option of enjoying a full breakfast or a typical regional lunch. And to take a little piece of this experience home, stop by the store full of local products.
An optional tour when we return from the farm is a visit to a small farm to learn how to produce red fruits and taste all their flavors.
If you are in Ibicoara, the first destination is Fazenda Floresta, just 11 km from Ibicoara, producer of Café Serra do Sincorá. A quality product for export, the coffee has organic certification and international Demeter certification (biodynamic). During the 2-hour tour, you’ll have the opportunity to explore coffee plantations, learn about drying and roasting, and enjoy a tasting that even includes coffee liqueur. The landscape, framed by Serra do Sincorá, makes the experience even more memorable.
At Fazenda Produtiva, 2.7 km from Ibicoara, host Sondeman Santos takes visitors through a real outdoor classroom. The tour includes walks through orchards, coffee plantations and a garden of unconventional edible plants (PANCs), followed by tastings of coffees and artisanal liqueurs. Those who want to extend the experience can enjoy the farm’s restaurant, which serves incredible dishes with local ingredients and, of course, touches of coffee. And there’s also a little shop with coffees, liqueurs and jams for you to take home!
FLAVORS, STORIES, AND LOTS OF RURAL CHARM
If you are in Lençóis, early in the morning, we head to Piatã, the highest city in Bahia, producer of internationally award-winning coffee. The last stop on the itinerary is Fazenda Riacho da Tapera, where the award-winning Café Taperinha is the star attraction. Camila and Teo welcome visitors with a smile and take everyone on a tour of the property. In addition to learning about coffee production, you will get a taste of a lifestyle integrated with nature. The experience ends with a tasting of different extraction methods and a snack full of homemade delicacies.
After lunch we visit Fazenda Rigno, the most famous and award-winning producer in Chapada Diamantina, and return to Lençóis.
