South Island Floripa Cycling Tour

Pedal through the untouched landscapes of Florianópolis’ south island

Discover the hidden beauties of Santa Catarina’s coast in a one-day tour among preserved beaches, trails, and traditional communities

Florianópolis enchants with its incredible duality: the capital of Santa Catarina flourishes between vibrant urban life and still untouched natural spots. Known as the Island of Magic, it is bathed by serene lagoons, vast beaches, and hills that seem to embrace the sea. The island is internationally recognized for its natural beauty and quality of life.

In the south of the island, this charm intensifies. Beaches like Campeche, Morro das Pedras, and Armação still preserve the wild essence and rustic rhythm of the Santa Catarina coast. Trails bordering the Municipal Park of Lagoa do Peri, a conservation unit that guarantees the purity of the water that supplies the entire region, and rural communities of Costa de Cima and Costa de Dentro, connect past and present.

Practicing cycle tourism in the region is the most genuine way to experience every corner of this area. No rush, no engines, just the rhythm of pedals and wind revealing unique landscapes. You can choose between two amazing cycling routes: the South Island Light and the South Island Extended. Both cover the most preserved beaches, pass along seaside trails, and enter rural areas where time seems to have stopped.

Whether for a lighter pedal or a full journey with a dip in Lagoa do Peri and a typical lunch, you will be enchanted by every detail of this adventure!

FROM MEETING POINT TO LAST PEDAL

The meeting point is at Campeche Beach, one of the island’s most charming spots, known for its crystal-clear waters and Campeche Island. From there, the ride begins, starting at 9 a.m. (for the morning route) or 2 p.m. (for the afternoon version). Lasting from 3 to 6 hours, depending on the chosen route, the adventure mixes asphalt, gentle trails, and seaside stretches, always with strategic stops for contemplation and photos.

On the South Island Light, it’s 20 km of stunning landscapes, passing through the beaches of Morro das Pedras and Armação, where the bucolic atmosphere and rocky cliffs impress. One of the most special stops is at the Municipal Park of Lagoa do Peri, the island’s largest freshwater reservoir, surrounded by Atlantic Forest. You can enjoy a refreshing swim before continuing.

On the South Island Extended, the route increases to 30 km, including visits to the rural communities of Costa de Cima and Costa de Dentro, where simple lifestyles and homemade cuisine charm visitors. You will also pass by the beaches of Pântano do Sul and Açores, two little-explored gems in the region. If you start the ride in the morning, lunch will be at the famous Bar do Arante with a delicious seafood buffet. Don’t miss the little notes left by visitors from all over the world on the bar’s walls!
